The project for the transition of all the magazines to Neo took ten months, and the first Neo magazines were made in Ylivieska already in October 2017. Every week or two weeks, the local newspapers exchanged the well-served Doris system to Neo and lastly Keskipohjanmaa, where the challenge of the project was increased by the change of format from broadsheet to tabloid.
Keskipohjanmaa is part of newspaper cooperation group Lännen Media, and as early as last autumn, Neo began to serve the needs in material exchange within the group that would not have been possible with previous Doris system.
As part of the project, Keskipohjanmaa switched from Oracle platform to a free PostGres database. The change was made for ad system AProfit and circulation system CProfit already in the autumn. Previously, the circulation and subscription system CDProfit has already worked in PostGres at Keskipohjanmaa.
Ad management system Neo-IH was harnessed to manage the group's advertising material, which enables to manage the needs of advertising production and sales and page making more efficiently.
“In terms of production, the end point of the project was February 14, but in practice, the extensive study of Neo's use and the development of the program have continued throughout the spring and summer. It takes time to make new page geometries and get used to their large-scale use,” says Managing Editor Hannu Lehto.
The SportNG software takes care of the tables of the ball sports series that are difficult to get for the needs of a regional newspaper like Keskipohjanmaa.
The next step is to use shift management system ShiftNG.
Now the project has changed to normal use and maintenance. In early spring, Neo's 2018 release versions were installed for production.
